Who are we?
We are a British Horse Society equine activity centre, and Alternative Education Provision that offers Equine Facilitated Learning, animal care courses and are located in Burnopfield, County Durham (which borders the Gateshead boundary).
- We are located in the countryside in 16 acres of fields, paddocks and trees.
- We have both indoor and outdoor spaces for learning making us accessible all year round.
- We are a short walk away from bus transport links to Metro Centre, Newcastle and Durham.
- We are fully insured and licensed with Durham County Council which adheres to strict animal welfare standards.
- We have a code of ethics for our animals which is strictly followed. They are our much loved pets with all their quirks but are specially selected for their temperament and personalities. They all love the attention and fuss they get from humans.
- We hold British Horse Society Qualifications.
- We offer the AQA unit achievement awards in all aspects of Equine and animal care.
- We are a member of the Athena Herd Foundation and hold the Level 4 EFL Practitioners certificate
- Our staff have attended The Donkey Sanctuary training courses and are DBS checked.

- Equines have an innate emotional intelligence that can help develop key life skills in humans, such as self-awareness, communication, empathy and emotion management.
- We allow our equines the freedom to work with our clients on the same level to develop empathetic relationships, which are mutually beneficial for the client and equines.
